Dear Friend of EMET,
Chances are, we have not met. I am the Director of Development here at EMET, hired in February to help expand our base by bringing our pro-America, pro-Israel message to patriotic Zionists across the country.
I met Sarah Stern at the Israeli American Council in late 2019 with my Aliyah visa in hand and on the verge of completing a lifelong Zionist’s dream of returning to the Jewish home. I had started my career with AIPAC in the midst of the fight against the treacherous Iran nuclear deal and, following the pro-Israel movement’s consequential loss in that battle, took a job with the Technion recruiting brilliant young engineers to Israel. I had delayed making the big leap to a life in Israel for years, and finally the time had come.
That is, until Sarah Stern handed me an EMET pamphlet. I reviewed its contents and the organization’s positions, and realized that there was one organization in Washington that shared my unapologetic love for the State of Israel and was bold enough to speak truth to power. Upon starting at EMET, we laid the groundwork for a tour across America to share important efforts such as the battle to extradite the murderous terrorist Ahlam al-Tamimi to face justice for her vicious crimes, to cancel the American support for the Lebanese Armed Forces because they are now so tightly connected to Hezbollah, and to rightfully deprive radically biased, anti-Western Middle East studies programs of US taxpayer funding. Other organizations tackle certain important issues, but none walks the tightrope balancing pragmatism and principles quite like EMET.
Though EMET’s critical work on Capitol Hill goes on unabated through this pandemic, my role as a person-to-person fundraiser has been put on a long hold by the coronavirus. At the same time, Israel is preparing to extend her sovereignty over parts of the historic heartland of the Jewish people, and to receive a wave of new Olim who hope to reinforce that monumental advancement of the Zionist dream.
I have chosen to participate in that wave of Aliyah and look forward to supporting EMET’s critical mission however I can from Israel. As a result, I will miss the opportunity to meet many of you in the months and years ahead.
While I still hope to see you here or in Israel someday, I am writing now to say briefly what I would have liked to discuss in person—namely, to urge you to please continue to support EMET and its vital work.
We are a small but mighty team, and worthy of the support of Zionists with firm faith and optimism for a bright and secure Jewish future.
No matter the outcome of the US elections in November, there will be an essential role that only EMET can fill, as an intelligent and laser-sharp focused think tank and policy institute in our nation’s capital. We are more than just a traditional think tank that writes and publishes. We constantly meet with members of Congress or third staffers, even during this period of quarantine.
If you have the capacity in time or resources, please consider doubling down on your investment to EMET. If you have friends who could become involved, please bring them into the fold. I will remain available and happy to discuss with anyone why reinforcing EMET’s mission is critical to the American pro-Israel movement. The dark forces of antisemitism have revealed themselves in Washington, and their grip on power is closer than ever before. Elected officials openly encourage the destruction of the Jewish State with that ignominious slogan, “from the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free.”
We must not rest. We cannot be diverted. The enemies of Israel, including those in the great United States of America, will use the COVID-19 pandemic, race riots, and other challenges that arise as diversions and cogs in their sick agenda to undermine and eliminate the one Jewish state.
The very thought keeps us up at night, and it keeps EMET focused on doing all we can to prevent that unthinkable scenario. Whether in the Middle East or in our own country, the radical ideology to eliminate Israel, the one Jewish state in the world, persists today.
EMET is an indispensable tool in our battle to overwhelm the enemies of the Jewish people. Israel has never been stronger, but our enemies are numerous and cunning. It is our obligation to identify them, to be ahead of the game, and to arise early and defeat them.
EMET is a sharp arrow with a straight course; with your continued backing, we will deal a devastating blow to our enemies’ evil agenda. I thank you for your support and passion for the survival of our people. Please consider contributing however much you are able. The fight goes on. We cannot do it without you.
Warmest regards,
Asher Daniels
