The City has been made aware that salespeople have been approaching our residents at home without proper solicitor documentation. Those who knock on your door to sell or inform you about a product or service are required to have a copy of their solicitor’s permit from the City on them while working. This includes but is not limited to fiber services. Attached is an example of the type of permit they should be able to produce immediately upon your request as a resident.

The City does not have a service agreement with any one specific fiber company. It is your choice to choose the fiber company that best fits your specific needs. Please note that the placement of a door hanger notifying you of construction activity that will be occurring in your neighborhood or on your property does not require a solicitor’s permit. They will however have a Contractor’s Permit, Construction Permit, and a set of construction plans signed by the City for your area that they should be able to produce immediately upon your request.

If a solicitor cannot produce a solicitor’s permit, or the construction permit items mentioned above, please contact our Code Enforcement at 254-953-5647 with your address, a description of the individual, and any relevant vehicle information you might have. If you feel threatened by the solicitor, please call our Police Department at 254-953-5400 or 911 if an emergency.
