Emergency Campaign:
Support Vulnerable Families in Gros Morne, Haiti |
A major humanitarian crisis is worsening the medical, economic, housing, security and other social aspects of life in Gros Morne. With the violence and insecurity that has spread throughout Haiti, many people who were living in the country's capital and in some other provincial cities have been forced to flee their homes and abandon everything they own to seek refuge elsewhere in the country. At the same time, the United States and the Dominican Republic are deporting people to Haiti. Many of these displaced persons and deportees are trying to resettle in Gros Morne. The people from the community want to help, but they are already suffering from food insecurity and lack of opportunity.
Our partners have identified 200 of the most vulnerable families and want to provide them with a financial support to improve their living conditions. They want to provide each family with $225, spread out over 3 stipends, to support their nutritional, medical, housing and educational needs. This contribution will provide some relief while families try to resettle. |
