Stop DOGE from destroying our national parks!
|
Dear Friend,
Donald Trump has empowered Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to make drastic cuts to the U.S. federal workforce across all agencies.
At the National Park Service, that’s meant the indiscriminate termination of 1,000 workers and reportedly rescinded job offers for roughly 2,000 recent U.S. Forest Service hires just as the NPS has begun preparing for the upcoming busy Spring and Summer months. There are now ongoing legal battles over these extreme moves, and it is unclear exactly which workers will have jobs in the long run. The Trump-Musk administration is sowing chaos and undermining the ability of the National Park Service to fulfill its mandate.
This is just one example of the incredible damage that DOGE is doing across the U.S. federal government, and it hits close to home. For years, Corporate Accountability worked with national parks to go bottled water free. Our national parks are a shining example of sustainability, conservation, and environmental education for millions of park-goers who visit annually. The bottled water industry -- which extracts water from communities, puts it in wasteful plastic packaging, and ships it around the world -- stands in stark contrast to that symbol.
So in addition to broader organizing to stop the incredible damage the Trump-Musk administration is doing, we’ve joined a coalition of organizations demanding that Congress stop DOGE from destroying our national parks. Add your voice and write to your members of Congress!
Our partners went to Zion and Yosemite National Parks to talk to some workers there and understand the impact these cuts have already had. Check out the video, and then write to your members of Congress!

Stop DOGE and protect our national parks!

National Park Service staff do everything from collecting entry fees to guiding tours, managing and repairing trails, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and more. Already with the chaos being sown, there are reports of long lines and even longer wait times. Trail closures, the lack of access to amenities such as bathrooms or campgrounds and even search and rescue operations could be impacted as well if appropriate staffing is not restored.
This is just one example of the harms caused by extreme and wanton cuts to federal government programs and protections that DOGE is undertaking. And together we can demand these cuts stop. There have already been protests at national parks across the country. People are taking a stand and pushing back. Will you join this push?
Take action today and demand that Congress stop Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from destroying our National Parks.
