Friend,
I’m a fourth-generation student educated in the Brainerd, Minnesota Public School System. Education has always been important to me; my dad has served four terms on the school board, and my family taught me to value the worth of a good education.
Here’s what I know: No child can learn stuffed into a trailer with 45 other children sitting elbow-to-elbow next to them.
Our schools’ budgets have been cut to the bone. We don’t have enough teachers, and we don’t have enough funding for any of our core disciplines, let alone sports or the arts. There is no doubt that this is the fault of a broken Congress, which has mandated dozens of policies, but has never fulfilled its promises to fund them.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is a key example of this. It dramatically improved special education in this country, but it provides less than half the funding it promised to give our schools, forcing local school districts to raise levies and cut teachers.
GOP incumbent Pete Stauber, President Trump, and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos have stood together in fight after fight to cut funding to our schools and enforce policy that hurts teachers and the education system.
When I’m in Congress, I will fight for our schools to get the funding they were promised and deserved. I’ll be holding a round table today with teachers from across our district to talk about what they need to do their jobs the best they can.
Before my round table, will you join me today and add your name to support Minnesota teachers, kids, and public schools?

Thank you.
