HANDS OFF RALLY - MORRISTOWN

Sometimes you think, “pinch me” is this really happening? That was everyone’s reaction last Saturday when thousands of people showed up in rainy, cold weather for a “Hands Off” rally in Morristown, which we sponsored. So many people showed up in solidarity that the streets had to be shut down!

The rally started with an inspirational message from the two women who hosted the event,: Cendahl Cornelio-Alter and Dana Levens. They said: “We are just two regular people, connected by a shared vision of what makes a community and a country great – and it is rooted in diversity, inclusion, love, acceptance and empathy.”
Chairwoman Amalia Duarte served as the emcee, with speakers: Mayor Tim Dougherty; Chanele Stockling of CWA Local 1040; Nancy Hedinger of the League of Women Voters; Beverly Brown Ruggia of New Jersey Citizen Action; LD-25 candidate Dr. Marissa Sweeney; Sussex County Democratic Chairwoman Zoe Heath; Great Swamp Watershed Executive Director, Bill Kibler; immigration attorneys from the American Friends Services Committee Priscilla Abraham and Taylor Iodice; Friends of Jockey Hollow Park Executive Director, Leslie Bensley; the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Morristown Pastor Sasha Ostrom and Nick Wallwork; and high school students!

MEET SENATOR ANDY KIM
Here’s another chance to meet up with like-minded friends. Gather with us at Jersey Girl Brewery on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m.! This is a more casual event than our usual Spring “gala” with lower ticket prices. This first fundraiser of the year will be an evening to remember with Senator Andy Kim, beer, BBQ and (don’t worry), we’ll serve options for those who follow a gluten-free diet.
We are volunteer-driven and run a lean operation. But, we do have expenses: part-time staff; rent/utilities at our Morristown office, insurance, and support for our local and county candidates. Help us kickoff 2025 in a BIG way!

FINDING KEAN FRIDAYS!
The movement to pressure Rep. Tom Kean to actually represent US continues every Friday at the Bernardsville Train Station at 12 p.m.! This week, the focus is on voting rights and the disastrous “SAVE” Act. It’s really the opposite and could prevent millions, in particular women, from voting! Learn more. [[link removed]]
Additionally, the group is planning a bigger action on April 25, partnering with Moms Demand Action. It will focus on gun safety and opposing the federal Concealed Carry Mandate. Sign the petition. [[link removed]]

SCIENCE MISINFORMATION IN POLITICS
Thid Sunday, the Morris County Democrats and the Morris County Progressive Caucus are hosting State Senator Andrew Zwicker for a presentation on Science Misinformation in Politics .
In addition to being a State Senator, Senator Zwicker is also a Ph.D. physicist who heads the Science Education Department of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. His unique expertise in both politics and science gives him many valuable insights into how to have tough conversations about science misinformation.
