[ [link removed] ]Ayanna Pressley at Hands Off! rally in Boston
Last
Saturday was a beautiful sight to behold. As millions of people across the
country took to the streets to protest this administration’s actions, I
joined tens of thousands of people in Boston to resist and reject the
cruel, dark vision that Donald Trump has for our country.
This is our chapter of the Civil Rights Movement, which we are still very
much in. The great Coretta Scott King reminds us that freedom is never
really won. We must earn it and win it in every generation. And this is
our time.
[ [link removed] ]This is our time to organize, mobilize, and agitate against the attacks
on our freedoms. If you’re with me in the fight to defend our democracy,
please chip in today to help keep up the momentum — here in Boston, in DC,
and across the country.

You see, history has a way of repeating itself. Forty years ago, our
country experienced a similar national day of protest — where Black
liberation leaders, women's groups, student organizers, and unions came
together to call for an end to South Africa's system of apartheid.
They protested a system that disappeared political dissidents, suppressed
free speech, and divided a nation. Sound familiar? It’s the same system
that made millions for a South African segregationist by the name of Errol
Musk – a man whose son went on to become the world’s richest white
supremacist.
This is our time to take heed to what the past has taught us. That
coalition out-worked, out-organized and outlasted those in power until the
apartheid regime came crashing down.
Here’s the thing: There will always be an Elon Musk. There will always be
a Jeff Bezos. There will always be a Donald Trump who will try to enrich
himself at the cost of our freedom and our humanity.
But we all know that our freedoms and our destinies are tied.
So collectively, we must resist, we must reject, and we must say, hands
off. We must meet this unprecedented moment of constitutional crisis with
unprecedented organizing, mobilizing, agitating.
On Saturday, we showed up to match the Trump Administration’s energy.
Now, I have a call to action for you: That you summon the stamina and the
spirit of our civil rights movement. That you continue to move with
courage and center the dignity and humanity of all people.
Now’s the time to roll up your sleeves and ask yourself, “What's next?”
Because stamina is how we win this.
Now’s the time we show up everywhere we can — in town halls, in rallies,
at our babies’ schools, at the polls — to not only resist against
far-right extremism, but to fight for a world where we do more than
survive. We’re fighting for true economic and social liberation.
Sustaining this movement will take all of us. Thank you for continuing to
lean in and stay engaged.
