Hey John, it’s Aru with Sunrise Movement.
Last night, Donald Trump signed not one, not two, but three executive orders designed to prop up the fossil fuel industry and shield Big Oil from any accountability for the harm they inflict on our communities.
He’s trying to protect Big Oil from lawsuits that hold them accountable for climate destruction, redefine coal as a “mineral” to expand its use and keep dirty plants polluting, and justify fossil fuel expansion in the name of “grid reliability” — even though it could make our power grid more vulnerable, just like when the Texas grid failed.
This is corruption, plain and simple. Trump is doing the bidding of fossil fuel billionaires — the same ones who gave his campaign millions in dark money. In return, he’s giving them a free pass to pollute our air, poison our water, and burn our planet.
If you’re as outraged as I am, make it count. Your contribution helps fuel our fight to stand up to Trump and Big Oil, and to hold them accountable for the damage they’re causing to our communities and our planet. [[link removed]]
What does that mean for us?
It means more children will grow up with asthma because they live near coal plants that should have shut down decades ago. It means more families will be grieving loved ones lost to cancer caused by polluted air and water. It means higher energy bills for working people while fossil fuel executives rake in record profits.
It means more climate disasters — wildfires that tear through homes, hurricanes that flood entire communities, and deadly heat waves. These aren’t far-off threats. They’re happening now.
It means we’re the ones footing the bill — while the corporations most responsible for the crisis get a free pass. Trump’s orders aren’t just cruel. They’re designed to protect billionaires at the direct expense of millions of people.
Sunrise is fighting back. We're organizing young people across the country to demand a government that works for people and the planet — not Big Oil . Since inauguration, we’ve trained over 5,000 young people to organize their communities and take action. We’ve organized protests in every corner of the country. Your support helps us keep up this work.
