Donald Trump is gutting Social Security — your Social Security, John.
His executive order imposes draconian bureaucratic hurdles, office closures, and language access denials on the Social Security Administration (which, by the way, is now run by MAGA TV celebrity, Dr. Oz.)
It’s screwing up payment times, shutting off access, and making it harder for millions of New Yorkers to access their benefits. It’s like putting stumbling blocks in front of older adults and people with disabilities.
I’m calling on City Hall to take immediate action to mobilize and protect the 1.3 million New Yorkers who rely on Social Security. Will you add your name alongside mine today?
I’m calling on City Hall to do the following right now to protect Social Security:
- Direct the Law Department to explore legal challenges to Trump’s Executive Order on behalf of vulnerable New Yorkers
- Immediately conduct outreach to impacted communities and provide education on Trump’s policy changes
- Create a 311 script to ensure that New Yorkers who have questions about the new changes to Social Security get fast answers
- Immediately share information on Social Security benefit changes at senior centers and with communities of older adults
- City agencies should collaborate to create an inclusive outreach and ads in communities most vulnerable to losing payment
This week, I joined older New Yorkers, disability advocates, and service organizations to call on Eric Adams’ administration to step up. And on Saturday, I joined thousands of New Yorkers at the Hands Off March.

The Adams Administration isn’t doing enough to protect against Trump’s attacks on Social Security. John, when people’s livelihoods are on the line, we need to stand up and stand together.
If you agree that the Adams Administration isn’t doing enough to protect New Yorkers from Donald Trump, sign on today to stand with me against Trump’s threats to cut Social Security:
Thanks for taking action,
Brad
