This Earth Month, the need for conservation solutions from local communities feels more important than ever. Climate change is accelerating. Wildfires are intensifying: becoming more frequent and severe. And the on-going rollback of federal conservation policies is creating uncertainty around existing efforts to protect the most important lands and waterways across America.

 

But we still have time to act—and your voice is essential.

In 2021, the Biden-Harris administration launched the America the Beautiful initiative, a plan to conserve 30% of U.S. land and water by 2030—known as 30x30. This effort depends on state and local action and collaboration to achieve success. When the initiative launched it received widespread support from more than 50 Tribal leaders and organizations and hundreds of locally elected officials across the country.  

 

But now, the Trump administration has rescinded this directive, and states must take the lead to carry the effort forward.  

 

That’s where you come in.

We need people like you to speak up and sign the petition urging state leadership to support and create programs that align with the goals to protect 30% of land and water by 2030. These efforts must also support local economies, communities, and diverse wildlife populations and habitats.
