Dear John,
Donald Trump is brazenly pushing Big Seafood’s corporate agenda. His EPA wants
to make it easier for polluters to renew permits for industrial ocean fish farms
throughout New England.
This proposal will endanger wildlife, ruin water quality, and harm small-scale
food producers who are already facing economic downturns from coronavirus.
These moves are all meant to benefit mega-corporations looking to line their
pockets. We cannot let Trump sneak through this giveaway to Big Polluters. But we need
your help to stop him.
Fight Trump’s Administration: Tell it to stop making it easier for polluters to
destroy our oceans!

Industrial fish farms contain hundreds of thousands of farmed fish and are built
on the factory farming business model. They produce water discharge with heavy
metals and chemicals, agricultural drugs and pesticides, untreated fish waste,
and excess feed.
Instead of cracking down on this harmful industry, the Trump Administration has
poured resources into supporting factory fish farms. Just a few weeks ago, Trump
issued an Executive Order that authorized permitting of these floating factory
farms while slashing environmental protection requirements.
Now, the EPA is trying to streamline permitting for factory farm facilities in
federal waters and on land -- without fulfilling proper environmental review
processes. It claims its proposal will slash regulatory barriers and streamline
pre-existing permit processes -- But in reality, it will only make it easier for
factory fish farms to pollute our waterways. This benefits mega-corporations at
the expense of responsible seafood producers and the environment.
Trump’s EPA must hear from engaged environmentalists like you to stop the
proposal. But we need to act fast!
We need 25,000 more messages to the EPA: Say no to floating factory farms in New
England!

Big Seafood has huge profits at stake with the EPA’s proposal. It wants to grow
as much seafood as possible on every available acre it can get its hands on --
in water or on land. Factory seafood farms on land are very resource intensive
and take an inordinate toll on surrounding communities and their infrastructure.
In the water, these operations threaten wildlife by spreading disease and pests.
Whether land-based or at sea, these operations will ruin water quality and put
responsible seafood producers out of business.
We need to show Trump’s Administration that our environment, wildlife, and
communities are more important than corporate profits.
It’s up to you to show public officials that someone is watching. Will you stand
up for our environment and responsible seafood producers before it’s too late?
Send a loud, clear message: Tell Trump’s EPA to put people and the environment
over Big Seafood’s profits!
