Dear John,
There’s a better name for the “Department of Government Efficiency.”
The reality is, Elon’s DOGE doesn’t actually give a damn about efficiency. Here’s proof: DOGE is gutting the IRS at the height of tax season by firing thousands of employees – and is planning to downsize the agency even more.
Now, why would the world’s richest man want to fire IRS agents?
Recent estimates show that the richest 1% of Americans already underpay their taxes by as much as $205 billion each year. And for each $1 the IRS invests in auditing the tax returns of the top 1%, it can collect $13 in additional tax revenue.
Could it be that DOGE has some other purpose altogether? Think this through with me in this week’s video – then pass it along to some friends to get their thoughts, too!
The tax revenue our government loses out on every year is way higher than the amount of taxpayer dollars DOGE claims to have “saved” by cancelling contracts and grants for vital government programs – of which only a small portion can actually be verified.
The truth is: Gutting the IRS has nothing to do with efficiency and everything to do with making it easier for billionaires like Elon to evade taxes.
That better name for DOGE? Let’s call it the Department of Tax Evasion.
