Trump Revives Clinton-Era Law to Charge Illegals Each Day They Remain in Country

Reporter Breanna Morello: DHS will enforce a law that will allow them to fine illegal aliens up to $998/day for failing to self deport from the U.S. This 1996 law also allows them to seize property for non-payment (X). David Strom: I had no idea that Bill Clinton signed into law a bill that imposed a large fine for aliens who defy a deportation order. Apparently, neither did many other people because the law had just been sitting there unused over the past four years… With somewhere between 20-30 million illegal aliens in America and a mandate to deport them given to President Trump. Running people down to deport them is hard, expensive work, and most of these illegal aliens are thankfully not running into law enforcement all the time or giving themselves up, so the use of fines is a way to encourage people to leave on their own. Instead of having to track people down and deport them, the idea is to get people to deport themselves voluntarily (HotAir).

White House Economic Council Director Kevin Hasset States Many Countries Attempting to Negotiate Tariffs
Townhall: Speaking from the White House during an interview with Fox News, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hasset revealed dozens of countries are pounding on the door for a tariff deal and that managing the number of requests for meetings is becoming difficult (Townhall). Rapid Response 47: “We’re managing a massive amount of requests for negotiations,” says National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett (X).

Trump Contemplates Drone Striking Cartels in Mexico
Townhall: The Trump administration is reportedly mulling drone strikes on drug cartels in Mexico to prevent the flow of fentanyl and other illicit drugs into the United States across the southern border. Current and former military, law enforcement, and intelligence officials told NBC News that the proposed strikes are aimed to decimating the cartels’ ability to continue their operations at the border… the administration is “looking to build a target deck” which could include individual cartel operatives, vehicles, warehouses, and other components of the cartels’ infrastructure (Townhall).

Supreme Court Delivers Trump Another Win
NBC: The Supreme Court on Tuesday halted a federal judge’s ruling requiring several federal agencies to reinstate around 16,000 workers the Trump administration had sought to fire. The decision to grant the administration’s request means the federal government doesn’t have to take steps to bring back some workers who were laid off while litigation moves forward before a federal judge in California (NBC). Reporter Elizabeth MacDonald: Two Supreme Court wins in 24 hours for Trump. The US Supreme Court bolstered President Trump’s purge of tens of thousands of federal workers, blocking a judge’s order that required the administration to reinstate fired employees in six government departments. Just yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld President Trump’s deportations under the Alien Enemies Act pending judicial review (X).

Man Pleads Guilty to Attempting to Assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh
Townhall: A teacher who expressed anger over the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade has pleaded guilty to attempting to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Nicholas John Roske was arrested outside Kavanaugh’s home last year, allegedly armed with a firearm, a knife, and zip ties. Out of rage over the Court’s landmark decision, he confessed to the crime. His actions highlight the alarming and dangerous rhetoric emanating from the left as violent threats against conservative justices and public figures continue to escalate. On Tuesday, Nicholas Roske pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, just two months before his trial was set to begin for the 2022 plot. The 29-year-old from California is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman on October 3 and will remain in detention until then. The judge accepted the plea, confirming that Roske was “fully capable and competent” to enter it. During the hearing, Kavanaugh’s name was not mentioned, with the justice only referred to as “Victim 1.” Prosecutors have indicated that federal sentencing guidelines call for a prison term of 30 years to life. However, Judge Boardman stated she was uncertain about the specific sentencing guidelines applicable to Roske (Townhall).

AOC Seen Flying First-Class to Bernie Sanders Rally to Protest Oligarchy
New York Post: Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was photographed flying first-class to a Bernie Sanders event last month — with critics saying it shows how she battles inequality one “mimosa at a time.” An incredulous passenger snapped AOC (D-NY) getting comfy in the roomy first-class cabin of JetBlue Flight 511 on March 19 that departed from JFK Airport in Queens for Las Vegas, where she spoke at a Sanders rally titled “Fighting Oligarchy” (New York Post). Townhall: HOLY HYPOCRISY. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who despises the rich, is flying first class to rant about oligarchy on the taxpayer dime. A flight passenger dropped the best one-liner on this: “fighting the system with one first-class mimosa at a time” (X).

Fundraiser for High School Student Who Allegedly Killed Another Kid Surpasses $200,000
HotAir: So…High School kids from two different schools get into a dispute at a sports event. It’s the sort of thing that happens every day because, well, High School. No punches were thrown, which is good. But one of the students is stabbed in the heart, which isn’t. According to the police and witnesses, the sequence of events is pretty clear-cut. The bloody ordeal unfolded after Metcalf, a Memorial High School junior, had asked Anthony to move from underneath his school’s pop-up tent during a rain delay at the meet. Anthony, who went to nearby Centennial High School, immediately unzipped a bag, reached inside and told Metcalf, “touch me and see what happens,” a witness told police. Moments later, Metcalf “grabbed Anthony to tell him to move and Anthony pulled out … a black knife and stabbed Austin once in the chest,” cops said. Metcalf died in his twin brother Hunter’s arms. So clear cut, in fact, that there has been a campaign that has included fake police statements, doctored photos, and completely invented narratives changing the sequence of events in order to create an alternate reality that makes it look like Karmelo Anthony was in fear for his life. Karmelo must have been in a lot of fear before he went to the track meet, given that he had a knife in his bag in easy reach, because as far as I know knives capable of killing someone in a single blow are not standard equipment for a track meet (HotAir). Collin Rugg: Lawyers for Karmelo Anthony are demanding that his murder charge be downgraded, want his $1 million bond reduced. Anthony admitted to the brutal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, according to the newly released police report. Anthony’s lawyers are bizarrely claiming that he acted in self-defense, despite the police report suggesting otherwise (X). Libs of TikTok: The fundraiser for Austin Metcalf’s accused killer has now surpassed $200k. The new goal is now $300k. This is insane (X).

DOJ Begins Investigation Into Gavin Newsom’s Allocation of Funds to Combat Homelessness
Katie Pavlich: The Department of Justice has launched a new criminal task force to investigate “fraud and corruption involving homelessness funds” in California. Since 2020, the California government spent $24 billion on “the homeless” and yet, the rate of homelessness has only increased with additional funding. “Officials have been unable to account for all the expenditures and outcomes, and the homeless crisis has only gotten worse. Taxpayers deserve answers for where and how their hard-earned money has been spent. If state and local officials cannot provide proper oversight and accountability, we will do it for them. If we discover any federal laws were violated, we will make arrests,”  United States Attorney Bill Essayli released in a statement (Townhall).

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX): “We Done Picking Cotton”
It is a day that ends in “y,” which means Rep. Crockett Says something reprehensible. Townhall: Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has been in the news quite a bit for racist comments as well for her comments on immigration. She hasn’t stopped and it doesn’t look like she’ll stop any time soon. It didn’t take long for comments of hers that she made at the 125th anniversary event at Grace Baptist Church in Waterbury, Connecticut on Sunday to have her trending once more over X (Townhall). RedState Reporter Bonchie: “We need immigrants to pick our cotton now” is a heck of a take (X).

NBC Investigates Limestone Mine Where Requirements are Processed for Federal Employees
Townhall: NBC News went inside the old limestone mine where federal employee retirements are processed by hand—an antiquated system Elon Musk highlighted earlier this year. In Boyers, Pennsylvania, 220 feet underground, the Office of Personnel Management is in possession of some 400 million records that are stored in 26,000 file cabinets. The process caught the attention of the Department of Government Efficiency and may easily be an area of the federal government most in need of reform, which has been attempted many times over the years with no success (Townhall). Rapid Response 47: NBC goes inside the literal underground mine “where a few hundred federal employees process all retirement paperwork for the entire federal government” — stored in 26,000 filing cabinets. DOGE is working to make it more modern, efficient, and cost effective (X).
