Hello, John.
Any system that does not represent the values of the community it serves should be rethought and retooled. That's as true of police departments as it is of street and city planning.
The Minneapolis City Council announced Sunday that they would begin work to disband and replace the Minneapolis Police Department.
"It’s been interesting to listen to the reaction of my local friends and neighbors, many of whom believe that disbanding the police department will mean no law enforcement presence at all," Strong Towns President Chuck Marohn writes in a feature article today. "It doesn’t mean that at all."
What it could mean is a more fiscally resilient city that's safer for all of its residents.
We, along with countless organizations across the country, invite you to imagine, and work toward, that future.
We wish you health and safety.
