Once upon a time, it was standard practice for members of Congress to host regular town halls in their districts to meet constituents, answer questions, explain their positions, and yes, occasionally take some heat.
That’s, unfortunately, not so standard anymore. Many of my right-wing colleagues don’t want to look their hardworking constituents in the eyes and say, “Sure, you’re losing your Medicaid and food assistance, but at least Elon Musk won’t be burdened by taxes!”
Folks are angry. We need to offer them an alternative to Trump’s message of hate and fear.
That’s why I’ll be heading into deep red districts to speak candidly with voters whose own representatives can’t be bothered to show up.
My goal in these conversations is to explain 1) what’s going on in Washington, 2) why they’re losing their rights, freedoms, and benefits, and 3) how Democrats are showing up for them.
Unlike my official town halls, we’re relying on campaign funds to make these events happen. Will you invest $25 to help me bring truth to every corner of our state?
Yours,
Sean Casten
