John, I have an urgent update on our email from last week, about a Utah law that could require students as young as kindergarteners to learn “gun education.” I’m forwarding it below in case you missed the details.
After we shared this news with our supporters, we got a lot of questions asking what folks can do to take action against laws like these.
Here at Teachers Unify, we’re not just going to stand by. Ever. And we know you aren’t either.
That’s why we’re collecting signatures to show that we won’t stand by as guns infiltrate our schools – and we’re starting with a 1,750-signature goal.
Thanks for fighting back,
Abbey Clements

John, you need to see this:

Utah lawmakers just passed a bill that REQUIRES students, potentially as young as kindergarteners, to learn about firearm safety.
Legislators are willing to do literally everything other than pass comprehensive gun safety laws.
That’s why teachers need a voice in this fight.
By empowering teachers to advocate for change, we can push back against unethical and unfounded laws and practices. Like laws that require children to learn about gun safety while not addressing the real issue or implementing changes teachers know will actually help.
John, I’ve seen firsthand the harm gun violence causes to our students and colleagues.
And as educators, our job should be to teach kids how to spell, not how to keep themselves safe from a lethal weapon.
But teachers can’t do this alone. Our movement can only grow through grassroots support from people like you, John. So please, will you donate to fuel our work to create safer schools and communities, free from the looming threat of gun violence? >>
