Each year, the Mississippi Center for Public Policy takes pride in recognizing lawmakers who have helped advance the cause of liberty during the legislative session.
Back in January, we laid out an ambitious agenda for the year: eliminating the income tax through triggers, expanding school choice, passing anti-DEI legislation, and cutting the red tape that stifles healthcare innovation. I’m delighted to report that we achieved two significant victories—income tax elimination and anti-DEI legislation are now law!
While progress on school choice and healthcare deregulation was stalled in the Senate, the momentum for our pro-growth vision continues to build.
These wins for liberty didn’t happen by accident. They were made possible by the dedication of lawmakers who stood firm in their commitment to freedom. At MCPP, we’re never shy about calling out those who obstruct progress—but we’re equally eager to celebrate the champions who drive it forward.
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be unveiling the recipients of the 2025 Mississippi Freedom Awards. These individuals have earned our gratitude for their bold leadership, and we can’t wait to shine a spotlight on their efforts.
