Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s “DOGE” are undergoing an extreme overhaul of the Social Security Administration (SSA) that could put many of the 73 million Americans who rely on these benefits at risk.

Trump’s SSA has already moved to make staff cuts of 7,000 Social Security employees and shut down regional offices, causing major disruptions to crucial services. And this isn’t the first time Musk has targeted Social Security: he’s repeatedly made false claims that it’s a “Ponzi scheme” sending dead people checks.
