John,
I have exciting news to share with you.
With the help of Trust for Public Land advocates around the country, we sent nearly 10,000 letters to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Members of Congress during our first Virtual Lobby Day. And thankfully, these efforts paid off! Following this outreach, Senator McConnell announced the Senate will vote on the Great American Outdoors Act — which, if it passes — will include two historic wins for conservation: Full, permanent, and dedicated funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), and critical resources needed to restore our National Parks that are in desperate need of funding.
This historic vote could happen as early as this week, so we urgently need your help once again to rally Senators to vote for the Great American Outdoors Act, S. 3422. The Trust for Public Land is working around the clock to get every Senator on board so that when the vote comes, they will vote YES for local parks, public land conservation, and our National Parks.
This moment has not come easily — we’ve fought hard for over 40 years to get the Land and Water Conservation Fund permanently and fully funded. And now, access to local parks, trails, and public land is more important than ever. The Great American Outdoors Act will help us recover from this crisis, especially in rural, gateway communities dependent on National Parks and public land, while also providing green jobs and access to nature in underserved communities, where it’s needed most.
John, we can’t let this historic opportunity slip away. Urge your Senators to vote for the Great American Outdoors Act, S.3422. Your voice is critical in the ongoing fight to protect our parks and public lands.
Thank you,
Jordan Schreiber
Director of Advocacy, The Trust for Public Land
