The end game is finally coming in this case in North Carolina, John, and we're heading for election theft in plain sight.
The backstory: The North Carolina state supreme court stepped in to stop the certification of the election for a justice on their court, which is a huge breach of power and a clearly partisan action in a state where judges are affiliated with political parties.
Back on Election Day 2024, incumbent Justice Allison Riggs (D) was reelected by a slim margin of a few hundred votes. Her disgruntled opponent, GOP Judge Jefferson Griffin, sued for and received two separate recounts -- both of which increased Riggs' lead.
Now, a panel of the North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled in Griffin’s favor, deciding that 60,000 ballots must be recounted and verified. The ruling states that all 60,000 people must be notified and given 15 business days to provide proof of identity, or their vote will be thrown out. This ruling will disenfranchise tens of thousands of people without showing any proof that any of these voters are actually ineligible.
“The Court of Appeals’ ruling is destined to disenfranchise thousands of North Carolinians, denying them due process and equal protection under North Carolina law” Justice Riggs’ lawyers wrote in their appeal to the state supreme court -- the same body she should already be back serving on.
We must keep the pressure up to stop this post-election interference with legitimate votes. Please pitch in $25 or whatever you can right now to help us spread the word and make these ballots count in North Carolina and stop suppression across the country >>
