Dear Jack,

When I joined the Survival International team six years ago, I was blown away by the dedication of its supporters. You’ve written powerful emails and letters, taken on extraordinary personal challenges to raise essential funds, and joined our protests – rain or shine – to ensure Indigenous peoples’ voices are heard the world over.

Your commitment has inspired me to take on my own challenge for Survival: to run the London Marathon to raise funds for our vital work. This will be a significant undertaking, as I’ve never run a marathon – or even a half marathon – before. But I’m excited to take on the challenge for a cause extremely close to my heart.

I’m aiming to raise £6,000 to support Indigenous peoples defending their lives and lands. Jack, will you help me reach my goal by donating to my fundraiser?

One of the first things that struck me about Survival was its independence. It’s rare for charities to function primarily on small contributions from ordinary people, and refuse money from governments and corporations that don’t align with their vision.

This is one of the things that makes our movement so special: it’s what allows us to be radical and uncompromising in our fight alongside Indigenous peoples for their survival. This model is fundamental to who we are, but also means we rely on the kindness of supporters like you to continue our work.

I’ve seen first-hand the difference your gifts make. You help us respond to emergencies as they strike, provide the means for us to speak face to face with our Indigenous partners about the threats they encounter, and give us the necessary resources to sustain long-term pressure on our campaign targets until we win.
