john,
Today is World Health Day, a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made in global health and the critical work still ahead. This year’s theme is maternal and newborn health care—a cause that is deeply personal to me.
I’m a pediatrician.
I spent my career caring for newborns and their families, witnessing firsthand how crucial and sometimes risky those first moments of life are—not just for babies, but for their mothers, too. I ran for office because I saw the gaps in our healthcare system and knew we needed leaders who would fight to close them.
Days like today serve as a reminder that the fight is far from over.
Right now, too many families—especially those in rural areas—don’t have access to the doctors they need for a safe and healthy delivery.
Too many mothers are dismissed when they say something feels wrong, and too many babies start life without the healthcare they need to grow into strong, healthy adults. That’s just plain wrong. And it’s why I’m fighting harder than ever to protect maternal and newborn health.
We can do so much more to ensure every mother gets the care she deserves, every baby has a healthy start, and every child reaches their full potential. That means investing in rural healthcare and expanding access to life-saving maternal and reproductive care.
Every family deserves access to quality healthcare, add your name to stand with me in this fight. >>
Thank you for being part of this movement.
