The Take It Down Act threatens end-to-end encryption and free speech online. Flaws in the bill will enable abuse by powerful people: Trump supports the bill because he wants to silence his critics online.1 This is a dangerously flawed solution to a serious problem. We’ve joined other civil society organizations to demand simple fixes to the bill to protect encryption and free speech.2
Tomorrow morning, Congress will have its best chance to fix the bill, but some want to jam the bill through committee without debate. This bill will only get harder to fight if we don’t act now. Join us by demanding that Congress do better.
