Disinformation | Eurogroup | EU-UK



This week, the Commission will issue a communication on disinformation in the context of the pandemic, prepared by Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Vera Jourová. Meanwhile, the European Parliament's committees will focus on the EU-UK negotiations, the European single market, the Conference on the Future of Europe and the EU’s anti-discrimination policy in times of COVID-19. The Council will address a number of topics this week, including agriculture and the European Green Deal, the EU’s global response to COVID-19 and the impact of the pandemic on jobs, skills and equality.

European Parliament

This week, the LIBE Committee will exchange views with Helena Dalli, Commissioner for Equality, on the EU’s anti-discrimination policy in times of COVID-19, in particular on the situation of LGBTI. The AFCO Committee will discuss the outcome of the Croatian Council Presidency with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia. Moreover, MEPs will exchange views on the Conference on the Future of Europe and the role of the European Parliament. Later this week, the AFET Committee will vote on its recommendations on the ongoing EU-UK negotiations.

European Commission

On Wednesday, Commissioners will discuss and present a communication on disinformation in the context of COVID-19. On Thursday, Commissioner Reynders will take part in a high-level online event on human rights and environmental due diligence, organised by the Group of Greens/European Free Alliance of the European Parliament.

Council of the EU

EU agriculture ministers will discuss the Commission’s Farm to fork and Biodiversity strategies this week. Moreover, EU development ministers will look at the bloc's global response to the pandemic through the so-called Team Europe package. Employment and social affairs ministers will tackle social policies in the context of COVID-19, including skills and gender equality. On Thursday, the Eurogroup will convene to discuss Europe's economic situation and policy measures to support the recovery. They will also touch upon the Banking Union.
