Team — The recent budget cuts to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are nothing short of cruel.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump are writing off funding for cures for Alzheimer’s disease and cancer as waste, fraud, and abuse — all to pay for tax cuts for their billionaire buddies.

As these devastating cuts go into effect, valuable research will be slowed. Progress toward bettering the lives of millions of people will stall. There will be a deadly delay in potential treatments and cures.

Patients turn to medical professionals to get answers, and the Trump administration’s cuts to NIH will leave them in the dark.

Friend, this fight for proper care has always been personal to me. As a child, I was diagnosed with a serious illness and spent three months in the hospital. I may not have gotten better without the skilled doctors and nurses who cared for me and the medical advancements made due to NIH funding.

We can all agree that the government should be more efficient. But recklessly revoking funds for lifesaving research is not the way to do it — full stop.

I refuse to stand idly by as this administration robs patients and their families of cures for diseases that affect millions of Americans and people around the world.
