In a bombshell decision, a GOP majority-panel on the North Carolina Court of Appeals just sided with Republican Jefferson Griffin in his bid to overturn the results of the 2024 North Carolina Supreme Court election.
As Attorney General Eric Holder said:
“This shameful decision is simply wrong on the law, and a prelude to potential massive disenfranchisement. It silences the will of the voters, and ignores the results of multiple recounts, evaluations by the State Board of Elections, and the trial court – all seemingly to achieve partisan goals. The North Carolina Supreme Court must quickly reverse this abhorrent decision and protect the rights of the people.”
Multiple recounts have confirmed that Democrat Justice Allison Riggs won fair and square. But Republicans have refused to accept the results — and have spent nearly the last 5 months challenging more than 65,000 legitimate ballots in a desperate attempt to seize unearned power.
It’s an all-out assault on democracy — not only undermining the future of free and fair elections, but also the will of the voters in the state.
