Since the Trump Administration and DOGE started slashing and burning our government agencies and programs, Social Security has faced many attacks.
Trump and Musk cut 12% of the Social Security Administration’s workforce—which is definitely not efficient. With a smaller workforce, beneficiaries have been facing delays to their benefits and all-around confusion.
The current administration is also closing countless Social Security offices across the country and making it difficult to receive your benefits unless you go into a physical office.
How are seniors, disabled people, and rural Americans supposed to go in-person if their local offices are closed?
Even if the Trump Administration vows to protect Social Security, they are already dismantling the program and screwing over Americans who are owed their benefits.
Elon Musk even went as far as to call Social Security a ponzi scheme, rife with unfounded fraud. Try telling grandma and grandpa that they don’t deserve their hard-earned benefits because the richest man in the world doesn’t like it.
My Democratic House colleagues and I are fighting hard to protect Social Security from these cuts. We are pushing back on the Trump Administration so they know to get their hands off our benefits.
