Donald Trump just announced sweeping new tariffs — and the result has been chaos and confusion. His policy has stunned economists, rattled markets, and risks raising prices on working families.

His own team is scrambling to defend the plan, but their explanations are completely out of touch with reality. One report even shows the policy closely matches a response generated by ChatGPT — not actual economic analysis.

Why is this happening? Because the experts are no longer in the room. No one to tell Trump no. He has surrounded himself with loyalists instead of experienced professionals — and the few people who could provide real guidance have been pushed out.

And Congressional Republicans are doing nothing to stop it. They have the power to reclaim tariff authority and check the president’s reckless decisions — but Speaker Mike Johnson has made clear he won’t act.
