John, today is World Health Day — unfortunately, there’s a lot of unhealthy stuff going on around here right now. The GOP and the Trump administration are making existential cuts to life-saving programs (like Medicaid!) and agencies (hello, HHS???) to consolidate their power and give tax cuts to the very wealthy.

They are cutting staff and funding for cancer and Alzheimer’s research, vaccine accessibility, food and drug inspections, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Veteran resources, and MORE.

Why are they doing this?

Because Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts for the 1% are set to expire in 2025, and they want to cut 4 trillion in spending to justify renewing them to their base.

That’s right. Americans are losing access to life-saving coverage, care, and cures while Trump & the GOP use our tax dollars to pay for Elon Musk and his billionaire buddies to buy yet another yacht, or maybe take a trip to Mars (honestly, Elon, please go for it). This is not how this is supposed to work. The American dream is slipping away from so many, while corporations and the wealthiest among us catch break after break.

This is why we’re preparing for the midterm battle right now, to elect more people to work alongside our founder, Mary Gay Scanlon, in Congress, who will fight for our health care and the research, programs, and facilities that keep us alive and well.
