If President Trump gets his way, a new executive order will strip collective bargaining rights from unionized federal workers, including 15,000 registered nurses with National Nurses United employed at the Veterans Health Administration.
Though the administration claims this is somehow about ‘national security,’ only workers with unions outspoken or resistant to Trump’s far-right agenda are being targeted.
This is an unprecedented attack that will hurt VA nurses just for speaking up about staffing and safety concerns for their patients and colleagues. And it’s a huge escalation against the labor movement as a whole.
RNs from Chicago VAs and Cook County facilities protest.
An injury to one is an injury to all: there is no reason to think it will stop here. If Trump and his administration get away with this, they could come after private-sector unions and workers next. The time to act is NOW!
Let’s drive as many calls to Congress as possible and make it clear that this attack on VA nurses and other workers is an attack on ALL of us, and we won’t let it stand!
In solidarity,
