We appreciate all of the solidarity you have shown our members at AT&T Southwest!
Our bargaining team has been hard at work negotiating a strong contract and we are back at the table today. The contract expires on Saturday, and we need to show the company that our entire union has our back. Don't forget to take your photos on Thursday!
Note: The message we sent last week contained a typographical error in Gerry Horgan's name and misidentified the employer involved in the 1989 strike - it was NYNEX, not Bell Atlantic. The corrected version is below.

John,
District 6 has been at the bargaining table with AT&T for some time, and the negotiations have been challenging. However, in District 6—and across the country—solidarity remains our greatest strength. Now, more than ever, we need to stand together.
📢 WHAT TO DO ON APRIL 10, 2025:
- ✅ Wear RED to show support for our bargaining team.
- ✅ Take a picture of yourself wearing red and holding a sign that reads:
- ✅ Email your photos to: [email protected].
This call to action is rooted in our history. In 1989, CWA members went on strike against NYNEX, fighting for the protections we still rely on today. During that strike, Gerry Horgan, Chief Steward of CWA Local 1103, was killed while walking the picket line. His death led to the tradition of wearing red on Thursdays—a symbol of our strength, our unity, and our commitment to one another.
The Company may view a strike as business as usual, but for us, it is about our livelihoods, our families, and our future! We do not take these fights lightly, and we know that when we stand together, we WIN!
We will not allow the Company to take away the wages, benefits, and job security that we have fought so hard to achieve—not when we stand united.
🔴 SOLIDARITY IS NOT JUST AN IDEA—IT IS OUR POWER! 🔴
