Honoring Dan Rhoades

It was an honor to join the Association of Defense Communities in recognizing Dan Rhoades from Houston County as one of their three 2024-2025 Defense Community Champions National Honorees!

The Defense Community Champions Award is given to those who go out of their way to make a difference in defense communities both on and off base.

Dan plays a critical role at the 21st Century Partnership Foundation, which is an organization dedicated to strengthening connections between Robins Air Force Base and our surrounding community.

His work centers on building partnerships that enhance the quality of life for military families and supporting vital programs that benefit the community and installation.
Dan is a true patriot and veteran who knows firsthand that our defense community and military families need support, and he has successfully played a key role in securing a better future for Robins and Middle Georgia.

Thank you, Dan, for your service to our country and dedication to supporting Robins AFB!

Meeting with Young Farmers and Ranchers

It was great to meet with some of Georgia's young farmers and ranchers last week!

This future generation of ag leaders had a great discussion with me about the challenges facing farm families and recovery after Hurricane Helene. Supporting our young farmers is critical to ensure a prosperous agricultural economy in Georgia. Thank you to the Georgia Farm Bureau for bringing them by!

Meeting with the Controlled Environment Agriculture Alliance

Last week, I met with representatives from the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Alliance in my D.C. office to hear their policy priorities in appropriations and the Farm Bill.

The CEA Alliance is the largest U.S. trade association representing the controlled environment agriculture industry. They represent BrightFarms, which has a regional greenhouse hub in Macon that ships fresh leafy greens to retailers across the Southeast.

The Valdosta Daily Times | Moody airmen welcomed home after six-month deployment

"After six months overseas, airmen from Moody Air Force Base returned home Wednesday to a hero’s welcome, greeted with open arms by their families and a supportive community.

The airmen deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East. There, they took part in various operations, focusing on intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, regional defense, and strengthening partner relationships.

'Getting back here — there is a real sense of pride in what they [the airmen] accomplished,' said Col. Paul Sheets, commander of the 23rd Wing. 'And then a lot of joy and happiness because it’s great when you come back, and you see the community has stepped up and welcomed everyone home with open arms.'"
