VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump gives off-the-rails statement as stocks plummet
The MAGA cult leader is doubling down on unilaterally plunging the United States into a recession, pushing markets into bear territory at a pace not seen since the Great Depression. All from a guy who pretended to feel Americans' pain about the cost of eggs on the campaign trail. Incredibly, Trump seems genuinely confused why people aren't calling his idiotic tariff war "a beautiful thing." Seriously, somebody please take the wheel.

Billionaire Trump backer warns America of "self-induced economic nuclear winter"
Billionaire backer and hedge fund vampire Bill Ackman did not mince words as he rang five-alarm bells about the economic catastrophe Donald Trump is needlessly ushering in. "The consequences for our country and the millions of our citizens who have supported the president — in particular low-income consumers who are already under a huge amount of economic stress — are going to be severely negative. This is not what we voted for," Ackman said apparently without a hint of self-awareness since this is EXACTLY what MAGA voted for. Ackman warned that without a "time out" and an abrupt change of course "we are heading for a self-induced economic nuclear winter." Hmmm, that sounds really, really bad.

Deb Haaland vows to protect us from Trump and his billionaire allies
Deb Haaland for Governor: Deb Haaland has fiercely fought for justice and delivered results for working people throughout her life, be it as an organizer, from the halls of Congress, or as Secretary of the Department of the Interior. She will always refuse to sit idly by while Trump and his un-elected billionaire allies unleash chaos across the country and give polluters free rein to destroy our pristine wilderness. We can help Deb fight back against Trump by electing her to the governor’s office in New Mexico. Will you chip in to help this fierce public servant answer the call to service once again?
Trump says he's not backing down on tariffs, says sometimes you have to "take medicine to fix something" as markets plunge
The wannabe dictator is standing tall in the face of incontrovertible evidence and a rapidly collapsing economy because, well, tariffs are obviously the ultimate cure-all for everything ailing America. Or, as Donald eloquently put it, "sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something." In this case, the something was a relatively stable market that saw years of sizeable gains to tens of millions of Americans' retirement accounts and historically low unemployment. Seems like a MAGA-fueled recession is just what some doctor with no professional training apparently ordered. Hang on tight, folks. Looks like we're gonna need several million spoonfuls of sugar to help this medicine go down. Wait, what's that? Sugar prices are also surging? Goddammit!

Forget testosterone supplements, erection pills, and personal crossfit trainers, gentlemen! Chemical burns, assaults, electric shocks and — Gazans tell BBC of torture in Israeli detention
Palestinian detainees released back to Gaza have told the BBC they were subjected to mistreatment and torture at the hands of Israeli military and prison staff, adding to reports of misconduct within Israel's barracks and jails. The BBC conducted in-depth interviews with five released detainees, all of whom were initially accused of having links with Hamas and questioned over the location of hostages and tunnels, but were not found to be involved in the October 7, 2023 attacks — a condition Israel set for anyone released under the recent ceasefire deal. In each testimony, the men described being stripped, blindfolded, cuffed, and beaten. Some also say they were given electric shocks, menaced by dogs, denied access to medical care, and even witnessed the deaths of other detainees. One man described having his head dunked in chemicals and his back set on fire, while another witnessed sexual abuse. The BBC sent a lengthy right of reply letter to the IDF which laid out in detail the men's allegations and their identities. In its statement, the IDF did not respond to any of the specific allegations, but said it "completely rejects accusations of systematic abuse of detainees."
RFK Jr. visits Texas as measles outbreak claims life of second child and outbreak continues to spread
Trump's Health and Human Services secretary traveled to Texas to witness firsthand the tragic and completely unnecessary outbreak of measles in the state, which has unfortunately and predictably claimed the life of another unvaccinated child. Kennedy reportedly attended the eight-year-old child's funeral on Sunday, writing on nüTwitter: "My intention was to come down here quietly to console the families and to be with the community in their moment of grief." Despite years of prattling on — without evidence — about the danger of vaccines, a chastened Kennedy freely admitted: "The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the M.M.R. vaccine. I've spoken to Governor Abbott, and I’ve offered HHS’ continued support. At his request, we have redeployed CDC teams to Texas. We will continue to follow Texas’ lead and to offer similar resources to other affected jurisdictions." Ah, well, as the old saying goes, "grievous harm, no foul." Glad we've finally settled on settled science. Wonder how long it will take to spread the word to every nook and cranny in America...

Fox is mobilizing a national movement to help policymakers understand what matters to people with Parkinson’s and share our stories to expand our understanding of this vicious disease. Will you add your name to stand with Michael J. US judge scolds Trump officials for failing to return man deported to notorious prison in El Salvador in error
US District Judge Paula Xinis issued a scathing opinion on Sunday against the Trump administration after immigration officials admitted to having mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia to an infamous prison in El Salvador. Xinis demanded Garcia be returned to the US by Monday night, adding he was seized "without any lawful authority" and held "without legal basis" in "direct contravention" of US law. Trump officials have laughably argued that they are unable to return Garcia because they lack the authority to remove him from jail in El Salvador. Did you get that? They can unlawfully disappear an innocent man, but under no circumstances can they bring him back. Makes perfect sense if you don't think about it and stick to your fascist guns.
Trump floats deporting American inmates to notorious El Salvador prison: "I’d love that!"
It sounds, looks, and feels like fascism because it is fascism.
UAW President Shawn Fain explains why he supports some of Trump's tariffs
Donald Trump's announcements on tariffs have dismayed many of his erstwhile supporters on Wall Street. The suddenness — and steepness — of the tariffs announced last Wednesday prompted some global manufacturers to pause shipments to the US and led economists to raise the odds of recession. But an earlier set of tariffs impacting the auto industry still has the support of Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers. Fain backed Democrat Kamala Harris with a fiery convention speech in 2024, and opposes many of Trump's stances on union labor, but contends the president struck a blow that leaders of both parties have resisted for decades. For Fain, some of the tariffs address a historic wrong. "We've sat here for the last 30-plus years, with the inception of [the North American Free Trade Agreement] back in 1993-94, and watched our manufacturing base in this country disappear," he said, adding, "it's infuriating that our livelihoods have been stripped from us for decades and no one's cared."
US sent 238 migrants to Salvadoran mega-prison; documents indicate most have no apparent criminal records
Three weeks ago, 238 Venezuelan migrants were flown from Texas to a maximum security prison in El Salvador. That country's president offered to take them and the Trump administration used a law not invoked since World War II to send them — claiming they are all terrorists and violent gang members. The government has released very little information about the men. But through internal government documents, 60 Minutes has obtained a list of their identities and found that an overwhelming majority have no apparent criminal convictions or even criminal charges. Among them: a makeup artist, a soccer player, and a food delivery driver, being held in a place so harsh that El Salvador's justice minister once said the only way out is in a coffin. This is America. This is the Trump regime. This is MAGA.
