We Must Protect AI Innovation and Competition

As Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust, I recently held a hearing titled, “Artificial Intelligence: Examining Trends in Innovation and Competition.” The hearing examined the competitive landscape within the AI sector, emphasizing the importance of solutions that preserve economic dynamism, technological innovation, and America's global leadership.

During my committee remarks, I discussed how the U.S. must remain the best place in the world to build, test, and deploy AI. That means making room for new entrants, protecting free speech, and making sure American entrepreneurs—not unelected regulators—shape its future. Fear shouldn’t drive us into giving up control to Washington, Brussels, or Beijing. The American model has always been the best—let's stick to it.

Activist Judges Are Intentionally Blocking President Trump's Agenda

Recently, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing examining the constitutional limits of the judicial power, with a focus on recent temporary restraining orders (TROs) and injunctions by district courts that have infringed on the rightful power of the President of the United States. The hearing also addressed potential legislative solutions related to reining in abuse by federal courts.

Constituent Services: Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

Tax Day 2025: With the April 15, 2025 tax deadline approaching, the IRS reminds taxpayers there is still time file their federal income tax return electronically and request direct deposit. According to the IRS, filing electronically reduces tax return errors as tax software does the calculations, flags common errors and prompts taxpayers for missing information. Most people qualify for electronic filing at no cost and, when they choose direct deposit, receive their refund within 21 days.

Tax Time Guide 2025: The IRS provides an annual Tax Time Guide with information to help taxpayers file a complete and accurate tax return. Many resources and tools are also available on IRS.gov, including the Let Us Help You page. The IRS also encourages business taxpayers to visit the Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center on IRS.gov.

April 15 Deadline to Claim Refunds for Tax Year 2021: Taxpayers have until April 15, 2025 to file their 2021 tax returns to claim a refund. The IRS estimates that more than $1 billion in refunds remain unclaimed by taxpayers who have not filed their Form 1040, Federal Income Tax Return, for the 2021 tax year.

Dirty Dozen Tax Scams for 2025: The IRS kicked off the annual Dirty Dozen list of tax scams with a warning for taxpayers, businesses, and tax professionals to be aware of evolving schemes designed to steal sensitive taxpayer information. The IRS's annual Dirty Dozen campaign lists 12 scams and schemes that threaten taxpayers.
