We had an incredible Awakenings Gathering last month. Here are ways attendees described their experience:
* “A refreshing reminder of beauty in the church because of the passion of justice and the love and grace of Jesus.”
* “Truly an awakening to new ways of understanding faith with feet.”
* “It was a balm for a weary soul and encouragement to step up and do the hard work in my context.”
* “It was both refreshing and challenging to be among Jesus-followers committed to the wholeness of the gospel of the kingdom.”
Check out our recap video if you haven’t had the chance to see it yet:

In the midst of our focus on Awakenings 2025, our Writing Collective has continued to publish incredible pieces. Here is a glimpse into some of the significant work of our writers in the first quarter of 2025:
The Immigrant Canary Stuck in the American Evangelical Coal Mine ([link removed]) | Daniel Yang (Contributing Writer)
[link removed]
"When it comes to how American churches understand the Great Commission in our generation, the canary in the coal mine is the Evangelical response to refugees and other immigrants coming from vulnerable situations into America." Read More ([link removed])
Learning a Better Way to Practice Mission ([link removed]) | Dishon Mills (Contributing Writer)
[link removed]
"Following Christ means giving up a vote in who is and is not our neighbor. It calls on us to see all human beings as our neighbor and to endeavor to be seen as a neighbor in the eyes of all who look upon us. Our neighbor is the one to whom the Spirit leads us and the one the Spirit leads to us." Read More ([link removed])
The Future of Digital Ecclesiology ([link removed]) | Mark Lutz (Contributing Writer)
[link removed]
"Instead of dismissing the digital presence of younger generations as “irrelevant” or “unhealthy,” we need to recognize that, just maybe, we are the ones who don’t get it. We are the ones who aren’t reading our culture contextually for faithful Kingdom mission in this cultural moment. Read More ([link removed])
** Turn Down the Noise
------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday morning, I needed to mop my floor. Wanting to make the most of the time, I decided to do my daily devotional as I worked. Using an app that offers scripture readings and reflection questions, I figured I could mop and meditate at the same time.
The passage was Isaiah 65:17-21—a vision of the new heavens and new earth. It’s a passage I know well, one that has shaped me for two decades. I love the imagery—people building homes and living in them, planting gardens and enjoying their harvest. Infants and the elderly live out meaningful days. So much of my life has been dedicated to holistic Kingdom-building, and this vision has been a guiding light.
As the reading concluded and I continued mopping, the narrator transitioned to the reflection questions. But just then, the noise outside swelled—sirens, cars, construction. The questions were drowned out. I strained to listen, but the noise was too much.
And it struck me: this happens all the time. The constant hum of life—the distractions, responsibilities, and anxieties—can make it hard to hear God’s voice, to remember the ways the Spirit is renewing all things. And if my capacity to remember is diminished, so is my ability to participate.
What might it look like to turn down the noise in your own life? To create space to listen, reflect, and respond to God’s work in your midst?
