G’day John,
Phew!
********************

Week 2 into the election campaign and I am pleased that the
Liberals have walked away from their promise to scrap working
from home rules for public servants. They have also scaled down
their call to axe 41 thousand public service jobs. But these jobs
shouldn’t be scaled down at all. Many of these public servants
live in Tasmania – and a sizeable chunk of those work at the
Department of Veteran Affairs.

The Liberals spent 20 billion dollars on consultants when they
were in government – this had a disastrous impact on claims for
veterans. If you don’t have someone who understands complex
medical conditions then claims get held up – in many cases for
years.

Meanwhile Labor is continuing to ignore the calls from small
businesses to cut them some slack! These mum and dad businesses
are struggling to keep their heads above water. The Council for
Small Business (COSBOA) has called for a tax cut from 25% to 20%.
I reckon these small businesses need a flat rate of 15%, with a
two year sunset clause.

I will keep pushing the Labor Party to act for small business and
give them a chance to make it out of this cost of living crisis
intact.

If you see me around putting up my signs come and say g'day –
you’re the people that keep me going.

Thanks mate,

Jacqui!
