This past week, Trump announced a sweeping set of tariffs — aka taxes — on nearly every single U.S. trading partner in a push he called “Liberation Day.”
The only thing these tariffs are liberating people from is their own hard-earned cash, since costs are about to skyrocket on basically everything we use in our daily lives.
Just a few things that will be more expensive thanks to Trump’s universal tax hikes:
* Your iPhone
* TVs
* Cars
* Clothes and shoes
* Wine, beer, and liquor
* Furniture
* Coffee
* Chocolate
And Trump either doesn’t understand this AT ALL, or is lying to the American people — or, most likely, both:

“As I understand it, you’ll pay nothing”
I fear you don’t understand it, because that is dead wrong.
And it’s not just consumer goods that are getting pricier — housing will be hugely impacted by this move because of our reliance on imported building materials. And I know you don’t need me to tell you that we already have a housing crisis.
I’ve talked to small businesses and families in San Diego, and they all say the same thing: We can’t afford this .
The good news is that Congress could reverse this disaster. The bad news is that the GOP majority so far isn’t lifting a finger to do anything about it.
House Republicans could pass legislation to roll back the tariffs. They could hold hearings to expose the economic damage. They could push Trump to reverse course. Instead, they’re doing nothing. No pushback. No solutions. And in many cases, no town halls to answer for it.
I refuse to let GOP economic failures go unchecked. I’m fighting for trade policies that actually work — policies that lower costs, create American jobs, strengthen supply chains, bolster American manufacturing, and keep our international alliances intact. But with Democrats in the minority, we need to do more than just fight in Congress.
We need public pressure.
Will you help? When enough of us raise our voices, we make it clear that people are watching — and that we won’t accept bad policies without a fight.
