This Pride month hits differently than many in the past. To be frank, it shouldn’t have taken a worldwide pandemic and countless instances of police brutality for many people to finally start seeing black queer experiences, or to say that #BlackTransLivesMatter. But, we can and should still choose to rise to this moment in time. We need leaders like Cori who will actually address the countless threats to black, brown, trans, non-binary, young, working class, HIV+, and countless other lgbtq+ folks.
That’s why we want you to see you at 5PM (CT) on June 11th—to hear from Cori & queer activists on exactly how she’ll show up for LGBTQ+ folks in Congress. You can save the date for Thursday, June 11 RIGHT NOW by registering here.
Racial violence is a public health epidemic. Gender violence is also a public health epidemic. And until black trans folks are no longer being killed—and their deaths sanctioned—we support the call from St. Louis organizers to CANCEL Pride. Many politicians don’t care about anyone in the LGBTQ+ community, period. Of those who do, most don’t care to be true allies to the queer folks most endangered in America. That’s why our campaign’s priority has always been #PeopleFirst policies, created in conversation with existing community leaders.
At this week’s #CoffeeWithCori session Cori will be joined by Charles Buchanan of FlowerBoi STL, Jae Shepherd, Drag Queen Mx. Maxi Glamour, and nationally recognized Brianna Westbrook of LGBTQ Victory Fund.
What: A #CoffeeWithCori virtual event focused on LGBTQ+ voices, concerns, and activism both in St. Louis and nationally.
Who: Cori Bush (she/her), Brianna Westbrook (she/her) Mx. Maxi Glamour (they/them), Charles Buchanan, Jae Shepherd (they/them).
When: June 11th at 5PM CT
Will you be there? This moment belongs to all of us. Let’s not waste it. Sign up today!
In solidarity,
Team Cori
