After 18 years with Make-A-Wish^®, people like to ask me how and why I help grant wishes. I currently lead special celebrity engagements, working with talent to share their time, talent and treasure - and I have helped grant over 4,000 wishes in my career.

Every wish is special and unique, but they do have some wonderful things in common. 

Of course it feels amazing to see the gratitude firsthand – from the wish kids and the families, who can often grow closer over the course of the wish process. But the biggest motivator for me is the overall change in the child, from the very moment they learn their wish will be granted.

Every wish starts with someone like you.

It’s hard to explain the profound impact of a wish on a child fighting a critical illness. When they meet their hero or their wish comes true, the light of hope returns to their eyes and the eyes of their parents. There really is no better feeling in the world than being a WishMaker. It’s no wonder our celebrity WishMakers are so happy to support again and again.

I have to stress that every wish is made possible by people just like you. Talent generously donate their time, but aspects of certain wishes do need to be financed by donations. That’s where supporters like you and me come in.
