Team,

Black and brown Americans are killed and brutalized by police at a frightening rate.

Nearly one thousand people are shot and killed by the police each year, and Black and brown men and women make up a disproportionate number of those murdered.

This is not the case of just a few bad apples — our entire system is broken. One way we can start to fix it is to elect candidates who have the courage to reduce our reliance on policing, hold the police accountable for misconduct, and invest in our communities rather than more police.

That's why, today, I'm announcing my endorsements of People First Policing candidates. I'll tell you about them in a second — but first, will you chip in what you can spare so we can build a grassroots movement to get these candidates elected?

In the fight to end police violence, I'm proud to stand with:

* Representative Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts's 7th Congressional District
* George Gascón, District Attorney candidate, Los Angeles County, California
* José Garza, District Attorney candidate, Travis County, Texas
* Kim Foxx, State's Attorney candidate, Cook County, Illinois

Team, I know that reducing our reliance on police and holding police accountable is going to take more than winning one election. It's going to be long and difficult work.

But electing these People First Policing candidates is a good start. We need courageous candidates at all levels of government who aren't afraid of the police, who will call them out and hold them accountable.

That's why I'm endorsing these candidates today, and why I'm building a people-first nation-wide grassroots movement to help them win.

Will you join me and become a part of this movement today?

Thank you for being a part of the fight for a people-first future,

Julián
