Today is a somber day, but one where we can ensure our fallen heroes are not forgotten. On April 5, we commemorate Gold Star Spouses Day, a day to honor the spouses of military members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Dating back to World War I, military families flew flags displaying a blue star for every family member in active service and a gold star for those who died in the line of duty.
I hope you'll stand with us today to honor the Gold Star Spouses whose lives have been changed forever.

When families receive that dreaded call, nothing is ever the same. Through your compassion and generosity, the USO can continue programs like the Families of the Fallen program, which has supported every dignified transfer of lives lost at Dover Air Force Base for the past 33 years.
