John,
Last week Donald Trump pardoned Trevor Milton—an electric car company CEO who was convicted of fraud.
If you don’t know who he is, here’s a quick summary: Milton founded Nikola, an electric truck company he named after Nikola Tesla. He was convicted of fraud in 2022 for lying to investors.
Here’s another fact about Milton: shortly before the election, he and his wife donated $1.8 million to a Trump fundraising committee.
How many Trump donors are going to be let off the hook as a result of Trump's pardons and purges of government agencies like the CFPB, DOJ and IRS?
This isn't how things should work in a democracy.

Mliton’s case is becoming part of a pattern in the second Trump administration:
Earlier this year, two Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuits against Trump donors were suddenly dropped when Trump took office.
Coinbase, a platform for trading cryptocurrency, was being sued for acting as an unregistered securities exchange and Justin Sun, a Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur, was being sued for artificially inflating the trading volume of cryptoassets and concealing payments his companies made to celebrity endorsers.
Coinbase spent over $75 million during the last election, then donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration. Then the SEC dropped its lawsuit.
Justin Sun bought $75 million worth of tokens from the Trump family’s crypto company, World Liberty Financial. Then the SEC dropped its lawsuit.
John, someone needs to stand up for ethics and for a government that works for the people, not just wealthy political donors.
CREW is tracking all of the ways Trump’s administration is undermining corruption enforcement and placing donors first. Please, make a contribution today to help continue our work →
