Let’s call Trump’s tariffs what they actually are, team: a massive tax hike. In fact, it may be the biggest tax hike ever inflicted on the American people.

And it’s a disaster for our economy.

It’s a disaster for the small business owners in Oregon and across the country who are seeing Trump thoughtlessly put their life’s work at risk.

And it’s a disaster for the workers who are facing rising costs at the grocery store and the pharmacy counter, plummeting retirement accounts, and, if this goes on much longer, rising odds of unemployment.

But here’s the thing, team: Congressional Republicans have the power to stop Trump’s massive tax hike in its tracks.

All Speaker Johnson has to do is bring legislation blocking the tariffs up for a vote on the House floor. I’d vote for it in a heartbeat, and I bet some Republicans would, too.
