As the stock market continues to plummet at historic levels, Trump continues to push a trade policy that economists say has no basis in reality.
These massive taxes on imports are a disaster and will hit the middle class the hardest. Working families will get crushed – Americans will pay thousands more for cars, groceries, and electronics. Small businesses will get hurt and exports will dry up.
10% on every import across the board – and much higher for the countries we trade with the most – is economic sabotage based on fake math.
And what are Congressional Republicans doing right now?
Cheering it on like it’s genius and selling out their constituents. They handed their power to Trump, and we’re left with no guardrails or accountability to show for it.
I refuse to let this kind of economic wreckage go unanswered. I’m continuing to do all I can from my position on the Appropriations Committee to stop this sabotage.
