Tough, right? 

It’s a question mankind has asked since ancient times—since creation itself. So, if you don’t know the answer, that’s fine (if you do, email me because I would love to know more!). 

This question is especially pressing today because of the growing power modern humans have to change and manipulate the material world.

That’s one of the reasons we released our free online course, “The Great Principles of Chemistry.”  

Why chemistry?

More fundamentally, we study chemistry as part of our liberal arts education at Hillsdale because the sciences help us understand important aspects of reality. It helps us think about our role as humans in the world around us and reveals the framework, implications, and potential for human life.
