Fighting for Fair and Transparent Elections | |
As chair of the Election Integrity Caucus, I am working diligently to bring back integrity and voter confidence in our elections. This week, I introduced the One Vote One Choice Act. This legislation bans rank-choice voting, which causes chaos and confusion, often leading to distorted outcomes and results that do not demonstrate the will of the voters. By banning rank-choice voting, we will ensure that Americans can have confidence in the outcome of our elections.
I also cosponsored legislation to codify the President's Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections Executive Order. This historic Executive Order takes steps to keep noncitizens from voting in elections, eliminate voter fraud, and repeal Biden's corrupt EO 14019! Also this week, Wisconsinites voted to amend their state constitution to require voters to provide a photo ID in order to vote. With nearly 80% of Americans supporting voter ID at the polls, this is a huge win for our electoral process. I am confident more states will follow suit in this vital move to strengthen our country's election security.
I will continue to support legislation that increases transparency, accessibility, and confidence in our electoral process.
| | Unveiling the Maximum Pressure Act |
Under the Biden administration, Iran grew more emboldened, bolstering its terrorist proxies worldwide with training, funding, and intelligence—all while expanding its nuclear stockpile.
In contrast, within his first 100 days in office, President Trump has taken decisive action to counter Iran’s malign influence by issuing National Security Presidential Memorandum 2 (NSPM-2) to reimpose the Maximum Pressure Campaign.
Now, with the United States once again leading the charge to counteract Iran, our E3 allies must follow suit and immediately invoke snapback sanctions on Iran before the ability to do so expires this October.
At a press conference this week, I joined my colleagues in unveiling the Maximum Pressure Act. This comprehensive bill includes my resolution calling on the United Kingdom, France, and Germany (E3) to initiate the snapback of sanctions on Iran under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015). Invoking snapback sanctions will restore all the UN sanctions on Iran that were lifted by the Obama administration’s failed Iran nuclear deal, including export controls, travel bans, asset freezes, and other restrictions on those involved in Iranian nuclear and missile activities.
With this legislation, Congress is making it clear: Iran’s malign activities will no longer be tolerated, and the IRGC’s reign of terror is coming to an end.

As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored.
HR 1520, the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Anti-Discrimination Act – This legislation prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in the organ transplant system, ensuring equal access to life-saving procedures. This bill is vital as it upholds and strengthens protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act, ensuring that individuals with disabilities are not unfairly denied transplants or related services based solely on their disability.
H.R.1513, the Unplug the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Program Act: This bill repeals funding for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Unfortunately, the Biden administration wasted billions of dollars on ev-charging infrastructure while private sector innovation and investment exploded in the space. To date, we have few charging stations to show for the billions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars spent. The government needs to get out of the way of entrepreneurs and investors who are more than capable of meeting the nations demands for charging stations.
H.R. 2605, the Service Dogs Assisting Veterans Act: This legislation establishes a VA grant program to fund nonprofit service organizations that provide trained service dogs to veterans in need. This will increase access to beneficial programs for veterans who may be blind, deaf, have TBIs or PTSD.

Transparency in Congress and a well-informed electorate are vital to preserving our self-governing Constitutional Republic. My constituents deserve to know how their members of Congress vote, which is why I have explained every vote I have cast in Congress since I was first elected.

Monday:
I voted "Yes" on H.R. 517, the Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act. This bill provides relief to taxpayers in areas affected by natural disasters and emergencies. Currently, the IRS has the authority to postpone tax filing deadlines to taxpayers affected by federally-declared disasters. However, this does not extend to state-level emergencies. This legislation authorizes the IRS to extend relief to impacted taxpayers as soon as the governor of a state declares a disaster or state of emergency and expands the current mandatory extension following a federally-declared disaster declaration from 60 to 120 days. The Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act passed the House by a vote of 388-0.
I voted "Yes" on H.R. 997, the National Taxpayer Advocate Enhancement Act. This bill seeks to strengthen the independence of the National Taxpayer Advocate (NTA) by allowing the NTA to hire legal staff that report directly to the Advocate rather than the IRS. Currently, the attorneys assisting the NTA are accountable to IRS legal counsel, which can create conflicts of interest and undermine the Advocate's ability to independently defend taxpayer rights. Passing this legislation will ensure NTA can operate without undue influence from the IRS. This bill passed the House by a vote of 385-0.
Tuesday:
I voted "Yes" on H.R. 1491, the Disaster Related Extension of Deadlines Act. This bill modifies the statute of limitations on filing for a tax credit or tax refund in the case of declared disasters and treat any filing extension granted to the allowable period for filing a return to receive a tax credit or tax refund. Passing this will ensure victims of natural disasters have additional time to claim a refund in the same way that those who request a filing extension receive additional time. This passed the House by a vote of 423-0.
| Launching the Community Funding Process for Fiscal Year 2026 |
The deadline to submit applications for the FY26 Community Project Funding (CPF) process is quickly approaching! This year's submissions must be submitted by Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at the close of business.
The CPF process is an important way for members of Congress to advocate for projects that will directly benefit their District. It provides transparency, accountability, and oversight of the funding process rather than simply relying on bureaucrats in Washington to make critical funding decisions behind closed doors without community input. The CPF program allows local governments and non-profits to submit requests for federal funding for high-priority community projects in New York's 24th District.
Local elected officials and non-profits interested in submitting applications or seeking more information should contact our team at [email protected].
| | Congratulations to the Chairman of the Niagara Military Affairs Council, John Cooper | | Congratulations to John Cooper, Chairman of the Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC), for being named the 2025 Defense Community Champion National Honoree this past week. For over 30 years, John has been an advocate for the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, which is home to the 914th Air Refueling Wing and 107th Attack Wing in Niagara County. His son, John Cooper Jr., accepted the award on his behalf along with other members of the NIMAC Board. | Supporting our First Responders at FASNY's RecruitNY Weekend | | Our team joined Jonathan Schultz, Director of Emergency Service and Fire Coordinator for Niagara County, in an event with state and local leaders to discuss issues surrounding first responders and the need to fill positions within emergency services. As part of FASNY’s RecruitNY Weekend, hundreds of fire departments across New York held events to recruit members to local fire departments and encourage public support. I fully support our first responders and am grateful to those who volunteer to serve our community. | |

An Ontario County constituent lost her mother, and there were serious delays by the IRS in providing the refund owed to her mother's estate. My staff diligently worked on the daughter's behalf to advocate with the IRS, and the refund was provided for the estate:
"I received my mom's refund check in the mail yesterday. Relief is a good feeling. Thank you very much for all of your help. I could have not done this without you."
