11 Democratic Senators held a shadow hearing on Thursday to discuss the impacts of the Trump Administration and DOGE’s indiscriminate and dangerous mass firings and cuts at the VA.

Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, US Army (Ret.), one of VoteVets own, joined them. In the clearest possible language, he told them: “These cuts are killing Veterans. Veterans will die.”

Not a single Republican chose to take part. Not a single Trump Administration official came to answer for their actions. And it’s clear why.

These firings, these cuts, are indefensible. They represent an effort not to increase efficiency, to improve care provided, or shorten waitlists. They have one goal: To kill the VA as we know it. To sever the bonds between our nation and our Veterans. For Elon Musk, for Donald Trump, for their billionaire friends, the goal is to extract as much value as possible and leave Veterans high and dry.

This is slash and burn.

We have to be clear about this. We have to be direct. We have to show what Donald Trump and Elon Musk are doing, and what Republicans in Congress are enabling. We have to do this because if we don’t we will not be able to rally the support we need to stop them — and more Veterans will die.

With that in mind, we’ve got a request today.

VoteVets is putting together a SAVE THE VA Fund — we’ll be using it to defend the VA, to demand accountability from the Trump Administration, and to take the fight to every member of the GOP who sits by as our Veterans suffer.
