Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson

Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District.

IN THE HOUSE

On Wednesday, Speaker Johnson swore in two new Republican Representatives, Jimmy Patronis (FL-01) and Randy Fine (FL-06) after they were elected in special elections to serve in the 119th Congress. Following the swearing-in ceremony, Speaker Johnson said, "House Republicans welcome Jimmy and Randy and are excited to once again have a full team ready to deliver on President Trump’s agenda."

Speaker Johnson recently hosted the GOP Spouses Reception in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol, where he and his wife, Kelly, addressed the group and highlighted the vital role spouses play in supporting every Member of Congress.

Last week, Speaker Johnson met with the Greater Shreveport Chamber, Bossier Chamber, and the Committee of 100. They discussed the community’s federal priorities, including infrastructure improvements and efforts to support Barksdale Air Force Base and ensure its long-term stability. This week, Speaker Johnson also met with members of the Louisiana Armed Forces Alliance. The Fourth Congressional District is home to many incredible community leaders like these who are a cornerstone to our thriving parishes and state.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

Last Monday, Speaker Johnson joined President Trump, Gov. Jeff Landry, and Hyundai Executive Chair Euisun Chung at the White House for an event announcing Hyundai’s $20 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing, $5.8 billion of which will be invested in a steel plant in Ascension Parish. Since President Trump taking office in January, America has seen over $2 trillion in new U.S. investments. Click the image to watch Speaker Johnson's remarks following the announcement.

Last Wednesday, Speaker Johnson celebrated Women's History Month at the White House with President Trump and House Republican women. Speaker Johnson emphasized how refreshing it is to have a President who can definitively answer the question: “What is a woman?”

General Steven Nordhaus, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, presented Speaker Johnson with a National Guard Bureau Seal. The new seal hangs alongside the seals of each military branch in Speaker Johnson's office.
