What Mitch McConnell is doing to our courts right now is nothing short of absolutely frightening.

After President Obama took office, Mitch did everything he could to slow down the process of confirming Obama's judicial nominees. So much so that, by the time Obama's first year was over, there were over 100 vacancies on the federal courts.

When Donald Trump took office, there was not just an open Supreme Court seat that belonged to Merrick Garland, but also 107 other judicial vacancies that Trump began filling with lifetime appointments. And with Mitch's help, the Senate has been confirming Trump's nominees like they were "on a conveyer belt."

Since McConnell used the nuclear option last year to change Senate rules so that each nominee can only get 2 hours of debate, he's rammed through so many judges that over a quarter of all circuit court judges are now Trump appointees. And they'll be sitting on the bench for decades to come.

This has been Mitch's game plan all along: When Democrats were in control, he did everything he could to block and obstruct. And now with Republicans in power, he is changing the rules so he can pack the courts with conservative, right-wing judges who'll be there for the next 30 or 40 years.
