Protecting Our Female Athletes

Image

This week, I had the pleasure of hosting Kennewick School Board Member Josh Miller and his family to hear about the Kennewick school district’s Title IX complaint against the state of Washington on biological males competing against biological females in our community.

Washington State is failing female athletes who work hard to achieve excellence in their sports. Aside from of the blatant disregard for female athletes’ safety and the fairness of competition, the state is risking losing federal funds that help individual schools and districts by refusing to keep biological males from competing against biological females. President Trump’s Executive Order was clear – any state will lose their federal funding if they deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities. Washington State should immediately reverse course and abide by the executive order.

I informed the Miller family that I am currently working with the White House and Department of Justice advocating a federal investigation into this unacceptable standard that continues to threaten the safety of young female athletes in Central Washington.
